THE FAITH RIDE-A DREAM from 01 December 2014
In my dream Chris and I were in a car, and I was seated behind the wheel, which strangely enough, was on the left side of the car.
We turned down a country road. I was depending on the Lord to lead and guide me. I was trusting Him to be my eyes and ears.
The car was travelling at top speed, almost what can be described as hurtling. Chris yelled, “I cannot see where we’re going.” Or was that my voice?
It was a case of not seeing the forest for the trees.
I had prayed for direction, yet I did not hear or see any words from the Lord.
His voice seemed silent. I was going entirely by faith.
Every moment, every inch we travelled, it seemed we wouldn’t make. It seemed we would crash. How could we do anything else?
But somehow, no matter what, we continued down this country lane, a path cut through a forest thick with trees, travelling at top speed. Not seeing or hearing, just travelling by faith.
Although the trees were so close to the car that we could almost feel each one’s branches reaching out to grab the car as we passed, we never hit a one. We never crashed. We never slowed.
The path was dark, the shadows menacing. The sound of branches filled my ears. SCRATCH, SCRATCH, SCRATCH...RAP, RAP, RAP...TAP, TAP, TAP.
I was seated behind the wheel, but I wasn’t the one steering.
The sound of fingernails on a chalkboard, of limbs of trees grabbing at the window on a stormy night.
Jesus assures us, “I will never leave you or forsake you. I am always with you.”
I trust you to keep me alive when I should be dead, so I trust you to steer this car. No matter what I see or feel. No matter what I hear, I trust you to steer this car. For I walk by faith, not by sight. I walk by faith, not by sight. I walk by faith, not by sight.
Faith is my proof. Faith is all the proof I need that you, Jesus are here. Faith is all the proof I need that you are leading, I am following. Faith is all the proof I need that you are better at steering than I, and you will get us there.
