Good Morning from England! Here's something a little bit different for you. Here's a story about one of the many things God is up to here in my area. As Jesus says to us, "Verily, Verily, I say unto you, he who believes in Me, the works that I
do, he will do also, and greater works than these shall He do; because I go to My Father." Go with God and be bold. do the works of Jesus, and greater works. You've got the weapons, He is the power. May His peace( completeness and wholeness) cover you like
a blanket this day. Yours, PK x
THE POWER OF THAT NAME
Chris and I stepped off the walk and into the road. There’s a big curve not far from the spot and cars often barrel around it, which can make crossing a bit challenging.
Just ahead, a bus paused to let people off, and others on. When we were midway into the road, the driver decided to pull out. But he noticed us coming, and with a courteous smile, he motioned us across.
We smiled back. I felt Chris tug at my arm, “Hurry,” he said. “We’re in front of a bus.” He broke into a trot, trying to pull me along. Like I’ve often told him, I refuse to allow anything to panic me, not even coming traffic or in this case, a bus. I won’t be killed by traffic, or any bus. Doesn’t mean I’m stupid enough to walk directly in from of them on purpose, but when I have the right-of-way, I trust God enough to believe that I will safely reach the other side, and reach it intact. I answered, “Chris, I’m not going to hurry. The driver saw us, and he’s waiting.”
It was like I’d reached out and stroked a cat in the wrong direction. Incensed, Chris broke away from me, quickening his pace, and lengthening his stride. And when he does this, he can out-walk me any day.
I kept my eye on him as best I could, but I didn’t say, “Wait for me.” I just let him go.
He stopped to peer into a charity shop window. I was distracted for the briefest moment by the people bustling around me, and by the time I reached the shop, he had disappeared.
Had he nipped in? Or continued on? My eyes scanned the distance. No Chris. I peered into the shop. I saw a few people milling about, but none were Chris.
I hesitated. Should I go in for a better look? Or should I keep walking toward our planned destination? Since Chris had never done this before, I wasn’t quite sure.
Choices, choices! What should I do?
If I went in and he couldn’t find me, he’d be upset. If I went onto to the post office, and he couldn’t find me, he’d be upset.
I opted to walk ahead a ways. So off I went. But as I neared the corner, I turned sharply and headed back the way I had come.
Instantly, I decided to trade “uncertainty” for “certainty”. God is never wrong. So I asked Him as we walked along, “Lord, I can’t find Chris anywhere. What should I do? What do you want me to do?”
He answered, “Go back to the shop and go inside.”
A few seconds later, I entered the shop, not knowing why, simply obeying, just following directions.
A couple of feet in front of me was a wheelchair, a big thing, the high-backed kind. A boy sat in it, his arm protruded out, like a barrier, the fingers grotesquely bent, stiff as a piece of cardboard.
Compassion welled up inside me. I walked carefully around the chair, and I squatted down so that he could see me at his eye level. Placing my left hand very lightly upon his arm, I smiled gently and said, “Hi.” My eyes were smiling too.
But the boy’s reaction was strange. He just stared at me with his mouth opened in astonishment. You would have thought I was a little green martian just come down from Mars.
I peered deeply into his eyes, and there they were: not just one demon, but many demons staring back at me.
The boy’s mother came and stood behind the chair. She chided the boy, “Why don’t you answer the nice lady?”
I glanced up at her, “Awww, maybe he’s just being shy.”
I took a second look into the boy’s eyes. Yep, that was exactly what I thought I saw the first time. Fear was staring back. Not fear from the boy. It was the demons themselves who were terrified.
Yet,not fear of me, but of Jesus, the one I represent.
They recognised Him when He walked on earth 2,000 years ago. When they saw Him they would cry out, “Let us alone! What business do we have with each other,Jesus of Nazareth? Have you come to destroy us [before our time], Holy One of God?” (Luke 4:34)
Jesus was again in their faces. Fancy meeting the Holy One of God in Bedworth town centre. But here He was because here I was. And I was unafraid.
In me was His power, the power of God, “You are of God, little children, and have overcome them, for greater is He that is IN YOU than he (satan) that is in the world.” (I John 4:4)
These demons were subject to me. I knew from Ephesians 1:21-23, which I pray every day, that I am seated in unity with Christ Jesus in the heavenlies beside the Father’s throne,
“Far above all principalities, [all] powers, [all] might, [all] dominion, and every name that is named, not only in this world but also in the one to come. He [the Father] has placed all things [and beings] in subjection under His [Jesus’] feet [and my feet, too], and He gave Him to be the Head over the church [that’s us!]. We are His body, [we are] the fullness of Him, the one who fills all things with all things.”
Check out Ephesians 2:2,4-6, and you will see more proof that all things are also under our feet, yours and mine, because Christ is our head and we are His body, and we were made alive in Him and seated with Him by the Father.
We have the authority Jesus gave us in Luke 10:19 While you’re there, look over the preceding two verses as well. Again, they confirm that all satanic spirits are subject to us, just as they were to the original seventy disciples Jesus sent out to preach the gospel, and do the same works He did: deliver, free, and heal in His name.
Jesus gave us authority to tread on demons, and all they bring: oppression (in the form of sickness, disease, lack or bondage), possession (including any or all of the previous things). The Father has placed ALL THINGS under our feet. They are subject to us. They must bow.
How are you taking this news? When I first learned this truth my initial reaction was, “What? Have they been there the whole time, and I just didn’t know it?”
Hey, when our eyes are closed, it’s hard to see. But God’s Word opens our eyes, because He says, “My people perish for lack of knowledge.” (Hosea 4:6)
And we have THAT NAME that is above every [other] name (Philippians 2:9-11),
“God has highly exalted Him, and given Him [Jesus] the name that is above [far above, folks!] every name, so that at the name of Jesus EVERY KNEE shall bow, of those who are in heaven and on earth and under the earth, and every tongue shall confess that Jesus Christ is Lord to the glory of God the Father.”
The boy’s mother indicated that she wanted to move forward, but I was blocking the path. The chair inched slightly toward me. My time with him was up.
I rose to my feet as the boy’s eyes followed me. I began slowly walking around the chair while my hand remained on the his arm. And before those demons could sign in relief, I softly spoke, “In the name of Jesus.”
A thrill shot through me, and before I could even think it, I said it,”Praise God!”
Immediately satan came up against me, “That won’t work. You whispered. Your voice was too soft. You’ve got to do better than that. You’ve got to stand right in front of them, and say it louder, turn up that volume.”
I didn’t even flinch when his arrows hit. No accuser is going to knock me out of faith. I may speak softly but I carry a big sword. It’s God’s own sword, “the sword of the Spirit”, which is the Word of God.
I was quickly reminded of another time by the Holy Spirit of another time and another place when Jesus said to me as I prepared to lay my hands on a person in His name, “Sneak it in, just sneak it in.”
When the door of the shop closed behind me, there was a smile on my lips. And Jesus, my encourager, my Master, my teacher, my coach, and the treasure within me, spoke these words, “You have what you say.”
I smiled again and I walked away, and suddenly there was Chris walking up to me.
“I’ve been waiting for you at the post office,” he said.
“I couldn’t find you,” I explained, “So God told me to go back and go in the shop.”
Chris didn’t ask why and I never said. For the moment, it would remain between God and me,but joy filled my heart as we went on our way. I had fought demons with the sword of the spirit and the power of that name. I had fought demons and I had won. A boy was set free.
You’ve got the same weapons. It’s a win, win situation. Now you fight those demons and you win.
