REMAIN IN HIM
“I am the Vine; you are the branches. If a man remains in me and I in him, he will bear much fruit; apart from me you can do nothing. If anyone does not remain in me, he is like a branch that is thrown away and withers; such branches are picked up and burned. If you remain in me and MY WORDS remain in you, ask whatever you wish, and it will be given you. This is to my Father’s glory, that you bear much fruit, showing yourselves to be my disciples.” John 15:5-8.
Remaining in the Word is as necessary to us, to our spirits as blood is to our bodies. Without blood, our physical body would become lifeless. Without the Word of God pumping into us each and every day, we, the spirit-man, the hidden man of the heart, becomes LIFE-less. If we do not remain IN HIM, in Jesus, we shrivel and die. We cannot function properly. We become weak. Our faith fails. Our joy fades. The peace only He can give turns to torment. Soon we become LIFE-less, and no one can tell the difference between us and world-dwellers, who are dead while they yet live.
Here in John, Jesus commands us to remain IN HIM. He tells us how to keep His LIFE flowing into us, how to be strong in spirit, so that our faith remains strong and grows, our joy stays bright, our peace stays constant. To remain IN HIM is to remain in His Word, to become a Word-dweller, not a world-dweller.
He is the bringer of Salvation to us. He, Jesus or Yeshua, is from the Hebrew word for Salvation, Yasha. It is true that Jesus brings us forgiveness and eternal life. But this is only Salvation in part. When we take only part of any whole, aren’t we lacking? Are we complete with only part, or do we need more? I needed more. And the good news is: there is more. And here it is. Yasha, Yeshua, the mighty name of Jesus means: Healing. Deliverance. Freedom. Completeness. To give joy. To give peace. To be whole! This is the Salvation foretold by the prophets, the same Salvation Jesus taught and preached to Israel. The same Salvation the Apostles preached and taught. The same Salvation the people received with great joy. The same Salvation the early church walked in.
But how do you make this Salvation a reality in your life? The same way you received Jesus as your Lord and Savior. Through the Word, by faith.
“If you shall confess with your mouth Jesus is Lord, and believe in your heart that God has raised him from the dead, you shall be saved. For with the heart, man believes unto righteousness, and with the mouth, confession is made unto Salvation….faith comes from hearing the message, and the message is heard through the WORD of Christ.” Romans 10:9-10, 17.
We have two sets of ears. We have physical ears, and we have spiritual ears. When we hear through our physical ears the message of Christ crucified, the message of Yeshua, God of our Salvation, whose death on the tree provides healing and freedom, deliverance and completeness, the message will not get through unless we choose to open the ears of our spirit. These ears we open by choice, and through faith. We will not see them open. We will not feel them open. No matter; we open them because God says we can. And His Word is fact, not feeling. As Jesus tells us many, many times, “he who has ears, let him hear.” Hear because you want to hear. Say, “Lord Jesus I open the ears of my spirit, so that I may hear and receive the whole truth of Your Word. I do it by faith, because You tell me I can, and Your Word is truth. You do not and cannot lie. Thank You, Jesus. My spiritual ears are now open.” Now, Feed on healing scriptures. Feed on deliverance scriptures. Feed on Salvation scriptures, with the new knowledge that In HIM you are complete, you are whole, you are free, you are healed. He died to bring you this. Set your heart upon getting hold of all Jesus did for you. These are part of your redemption. Study these scriptures. Make them your own. Confess them. Say the same thing God says about you, no matter how you feel or what you see. Refuse to say anything else. Then your spiritual ears will open. “You will know the truth, and the truth will make you free.” The Word is the truth. With your spiritual ears open, by faith will rise up big inside you. You will believe and you will receive. See yourself as whole, walking in the full light of Christ. You may only see it like a flash of a camera before you, but see it daily. Then, put God’s faith formula to work:
See. Believe. Confess. Receive. Act. Stand strong against the enemy.
If you are placing His Word above all else in your life, then Congratulations! You are doing it! You are now abiding IN HIM and His Word is in you. You are no longer a world-dweller, you have become a Word-dweller. You are abiding in the Vine, and He in you, and you will have everything Jesus came to give. His powerful, living Word will continue to give you all His precious life’s blood provides. Feed on the Word, as a branch does the Vine, as the physical body does blood. Make a trade-in. Trade LIFE-less for Abundant LIFE. Continue to Feed on the Word, Abide in Him, and be free.
