Don’t Look Down!

Dear Father, Each time I look at the circumstances, I see a black emptiness stretching before me. I feel uncertainty. I am bound, not free. By choice, by decision, I look to You, the God of promise, the God of my hope, and to Your Word. I look to You with the faith of a child.  As the man dangling on a rope from a high cliff, concentrates on the rope, which is his salvation, I do not look down, but I concentrate on You, the God of my salvation. Keeping my eyes fixed upon You, Lord, I meditate upon Your promise in Isaiah 55.

“For My thoughts are not your thoughts, neither are your ways My ways, declares the Lord. For as the heavens are higher than the earth, so are My ways higher than Your ways, and My thoughts than your thoughts. For as the rain comes down, and the snow from heaven, and returns not thither, but waters the earth, and makes it bring forth and bud, that it may give seed to the sower and bread to the eater: So shall My Word be that goes out of My mouth, it shall not return unto Me void(empty, useless), but it shall accomplish that which I please, and it shall prosper in the thing whereto I sent it.”

In God, victory is mine. Victory laughs in the face of uncertainty. For You, the Lord my God, strengthens me with your power, so I can endure. As long as I keep my heart fixed on You, I stand firm against an enemy that is nothing more than hot air blowing out threats, doubts, accusations. I confess the Word, I say what You say, God, Your faith-filled Words, and the enemy before me is but dust. I tread upon him beneath my feet. Jesus, You have set me FREE in all ways. In You, I need not ever fear.

This day I pronounce death to the enemy and his death-filled words.Death to sickness, lack, disease, defeat.I put the devil to death, by refusing to speak the world’s words, by refusing to speak world-speak.For world-speak is lies, deceit in my mouth. World-speak causes me to not only look down, but brings me down to the enemy’s level.Speaking his words means that I am choosingwhat he, the thief, the killer, the destroyer; the deceiver, the Father of lies offers. Yet although the circumstances may bow me low, I refuse to bow. And in the face of all he brings: the sickness, the disease, the lack, the defeat, I remain in my seat in the heavenly places in Christ Jesus, where the Father has set me, far above him.

“But God, who is rich in mercy; for His great love wherewith He loved us, even when we were dead in our trespasses and sins, has quickened us together(made us alive) with Christ,(by grace you were saved). And has raised us up together, and made us sit together in heavenly places in Christ, (and Christ and us are) FAR ABOVE all principalities, all powers, all dominion, all might…” Ephesians 3:4-6; 2:21.

Since I am, far above the evil one, this means the evil one is far below me. This means if I concentrate on the circumstances he brings, and speak the world-speak he speaks--the words of fear, the words of defeat; of sickness, of pain, of lack, of deceit, I have to look down to do it. And if I look down, I know I will sink, as did Peter the day he was walking on the water with Jesus. When he looked up into the face of Jesus, he walked on the water, by faith in Him, but when he looked down at the churning of the sea around him, he became fearful, and he began to sink. Looking at the circumstances brings fear; Talking about the negative of those circumstances feeds fear. And this is exactly what satan has in mind. In doing so, we are like putty in his hands, as fear is the fuel that feeds the fire of the enemy, bringing him on the scene, whereas faith is the water that puts the fire out. Faith changes things. Faith brings God on the scene. It causes God to rise up big inside us. But, how do we get this circumstance changing power? We release it by speaking God-speak, by saying the same thing as God.

It may seem strange to confess health when you see sickness and feel pain. This is Christ crucified, the foolishness of God. Yet as the Bible says, the foolishness of God is wiser than the wisdom of man. What does the Bible call the words of man, what I call world-speak? Craftiness. In Ephesians 6, in the literal Greek, the word for “wiles”, as in wiles of the devil is called craftiness. Same word, same thing. We are instructed to put on God’s full armour, and stand against world-speak, not talk it. We must learn to say God’s Words, against all odds. The devil may tell you that what you say is a pack of lies. And you may not see instant relief. In fact, sometimes things seem to worsen. But, keep this in mind, if this happens, it is a test, your faith is being tested. When we persevere, joy cometh in the morning, like God says it will. For God’s Word is truth, and satan’s are the lies. Satan’s may feel more natural and easy to say, but they are lies just the same, and when we speak them, we will remain in pain, in sickness, in defeat. But, God’s Word in our mouths will free us.

God’s Word says this loud and clear,

…for they(God’s Words) are LIFE unto those who find them, and  HEALTH(healing, medicine) to all their flesh(body). Proverbs 4:24.

Jesus bought us this health and freedom by His death.

“For surely(for certain, without a doubt) he hath carried our sicknesses, and bore our diseases…And by His stripes(wounds) WE ARE HEALED… he bore our sins in his own body on the tree, that we, being dead to sin, might live unto righteousness, and by His stripes(wounds) WE WERE HEALED.” Isaiah 53:4-5; 2 Pet. 2:24.

God’s Words to us are Life. Zoe life. Eternal Life. They are the life-force of God unto all of us who find His Words, say them, and act upon them. To confess is to speak the same thing. So the question is: Will we continue to confess the words of death? Do we want to speak the same thing as our enemy, or will we choose to confess the words of our Father, the God of our Salvation? Will we murmur as did Israel in the desert when they took their eyes off of the saving power of God, and threw God’s Word back into his face? By doing so repeatedly, they sealed their doom, and they never knew the rest He had promised them, for they could not have what He promised when they refused to keep their eyes on Him, and to speak His Word, the same words as He. As Malachi 4:13 puts it,

“Your words have been stout against Me, saith the Lord. Yet you say, what have we spoken so much against Thee?”

Here God complains that Israel’s words are against Him. If their words are against Him, then they are opposite to His Words, the words He speaks. As we can see, Israel answers back, “What do You mean? What are You talking about, God? What have we said that is so much against You?”

There are physical laws, and there are spiritual laws. Words are based on a spiritual law. They are tremendous in power, and God tells us so repeatedly in His Word. For in His Word we can see clearly, once our eyes are opened to the truth of this. Jesus tells us our words will judge us. So we know that every word we speak is recorded in heaven.

“But I say unto you, That every idle(unprofitable, useless) word that men shall speak, they(we) shall give account thereof in the day of judgement. For BY THY WORDS thou shalt be justified(made not guilty), and BY THY WORDS, thou shalt be condemned(damned).” Mt. 12:37.

My words are important; your words are important. They bring life or death to us. They keep us in a circumstance or they bring us out of it. By changing the way we talk, we effect change in our lives. I know it is hard to change the way we talk, and all that we have been hearing and speaking since we were babies. When everyone around us is also talking the same, the challenge is even greater. Yet, remember this, as it will help, this is the ruler we can use to judge the words we speak: Satan talks the problem. God talks the solution. So we look to the solution for this; how to train ourselves to speak the solution, not the problem, and we find it in God’s Word. Here it is in Romans 12:1,

“I beseech you therefore, brothers and sisters, by the mercies of God, that you present your bodies a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable unto God, which is your reasonable service. And be ye not conformed to this world: but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind, that you may prove(show by your lifestyle, by your words and your actions) what is that good, and acceptable and perfect will of God.”

How does God say to do it? Don’t be conformed any longer to the world. The world is our enemy of which satan is the god. Be not conformed…Do not speak their words, or allow the philosophy of the world colour our lives. But be transformed. By what? By the renewing of our minds. And I’m here to help you. This is part of my ministry. I’m here to guide, to instruct, to preach, to teach; to instruct, to exhort, to encourage, to warn; to gently lead. You may say, “You’re not my Pastor therefore I don’t have to listen to you.” No, I’m not your Pastor, and I cannot make your choice for you, let alone force you. God has given us each a free will. He allows us to choose. He says it is our right. And so be it. Would I be foolish enough to contradict God? I used to be, or at least I tried, but not these days. No way! However, I must still do what I’m called to do, for I answer to God, not to man, for what I do, and don’t do, and for what I say, or rather, don’t say, when He has laid the message upon my heart. If I didn’t speak God’s words, I would need to say with Jeremiah, “(Lord) Your words are as fire in my bones.” So I am compelled to say them even if no one listens.

But if you are listening, if you receive this message into your heart, and you want to stop speaking word-speak, and talk God-speak, I will assure you of this, God is merciful and kind, and He is always patient. He is aware that renewing the mind is a process. The process is simple, as is all else God expects of us. You can do it, too. If I can, you can. But, it cannot be done overnight, and He does not expect it to be. God knows it, and I know it. Believe me, I’ve been there, done that, and learned the hard way. Yet, we cannot learn anything, and we never have, unless we make a start. It’s like after He freed-delivered-healed me last October, there was still pain and lingering symptoms, as I stood against the enemy. The easy thing would have been to stay in bed, where it felt safer. But one day, my heart led me to get up. I made it to the edge of the bed, and like a baby learning to walk, I hesitated for a moment. Jesus coached me, “Come on, Paula, You can do it. Get out of that bed. You can do it! You can do it!” Even with Jesus encouraging me, I sat there, while the devil said, “You can’t get up. You’re not strong enough, you know,” And my own mind thinking, ”Should I stand up? Can I?” Finally, Jesus said to me, “Just get out of bed. That’s all. Just get up. You don’t have to stay up. You can always go right back. Just make a start.” I listened, and I acted upon His Words. I stood in triumph, and I remained up for some hours. Each day from that day on I remained up a little longer. And today? I walk in the divine health Jesus brings. It was a process that took time. This is what I say to you. Just make a start. That’s all. It will make you stronger. You will see. God does not expect perfection, but He does expect us to make an effort. He loves us so much, and He so much longs for us to look at HIM, and to remain in our seats, and to not look down. That is all. He set us there, and He has given us His precious Word. So against all you feel or see, remain in your seat, speak His Words, make a start and don’t look down! Cool
